“The City of New Orleans” by Arlo Guthrie

Not the best video, someone overlayed train sounds onto it, but this is everything a modern folk song should be.  Steve Goodman, the composer, met Arlo Guthrie in a bar in Chicago and played it for him.  Arlo added it to his repertoire and later released the record,  which was a hit for him in 1972.  It’s been covered by many people, but no one has done it better than Arlo.
