“Beginnings” – Chicago

I’ve seen a lot of great concerts in my life; The Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Cream, the Moody Blues, the Doobie Brothers, etc. etc. Of all the concerts I’ve seen, the one that most blew me away was seeing Chicago a couple of years ago at the Big Fresno Fair. I’ve always loved their music, but seeing them live added a whole dimension that. They are tight and they sound as good as they ever have. They showed up a half hour late and then did a long set of hits spanning their 40+ year career. The drummer had the biggest freaking drum kit I’ve ever seen and he used it all, they have a bass player that completely fills the shoes of Pete Cetera and the horn section was superb. Jamie Pankow the trombone player may look a bit like George Carlin but he plays with energy and enthusiasm, as though it was his first gig. I love these guys!!!
